July 17, 2007 Most people don't know this but I'm "1st Generation" in the United States. My father, Gilberto (yes I'm Junior but never disclosed that to many people) came over to the United States and joined the Air Force; a year later, he married and and brought over my Mom, Esperanza (Hope in Spanish). While in Colorado, stationed at Lowry Air Force Base (officially closed in 1994) my older sister and I were born. I was only 2 when I we left Colorado so I don't remember much since I had never been back until I moved my childhood "Hermano" to Colorado when I was twenty five - more on that later. Anyway's, our family eventually made it down to San Antonio Texas and my Dad got a job as a "Letter Carrier" for United States Post Office for 27 years - funny how I now work as a production coordinator for a company that prints AND mails materials to the Military and dependants!! I always joke that no one....NO ONE...can use the joke "WATCH OUT! HE'S GONNA GO POSTAL!" around me because I grew up with a Man that delivered mail for a living. A while back I got a photo that I was able to "restore" a bit and I am presenting it below. This was done way back before my Photoshop skills were up to par so bear with the image. Below you will see the final "retouched" image and if you rollover the image with your mouse - you can see the work I've done - most of it is around the edges. Oh - my Dad is on the 1st row - 5th from the RIGHT - thick black glasses and the ONLY one to think the camera was off to "your" right. I
hope to print this photo and mount in at my desk at work...a reminder
that my Dad was a mailman...err... "Letter Carrier" for the United
States Post Office.
